Were you not allowed a camera inside the Royal Courts, DG?

I can answer that - yes (except, not inside the court that was open, if that makes any sense). I managed the Express Building and one other notable, as well as wandering into several others.

I used to sit in the queue for the Blackwall tunnel gazing at Balfron Tower for sixteen years... always fascinated me.

I've never been in the queue that long - normally clears by 9:30

Doors Open on Saturday the 16th in Kitchener (named after Lord Kitchener when the 1st World War raged and the inhabitants grew nervous of its original name "Berlin"), in Canada, an hour west of Lester B. Pearson Airport (once called Toronto International Airport). North a couple of miles to Waterloo (in honour of Wellington?) to Waterloo Community Arts Centre a.k.a. the 'Button Factory' (late 19th C)where buttons were once manufactured. Special exhibit upstairs: Wilfrid Laurier (another prime minister) University professor Duggan's magnum opus - a reproduction of the Bayeux Tapestry, stitched by him over a 5-year period. The work's length traced the perimeter of the room (about 220'). Whoever hung it obviously feared the grimy fingers of spectators and positioned it not only out of reach, but also out of sight somewhere near the ceiling. Still, I was amazed. I now have less reason to fly to Charles DeGaulle and trek to Bayeux to see the almost thousand-year old original. Life in a former colony is full of anomalies.

I'd loved to have had a look round Balfron Tower. I can remember it from when I was a kid and always thinking what an ugly, albeit unusual, block of flats it was and being grateful that I didn't have to live there. It always seem so 'rough', I thought.

We got into Balfron Tower this afternoon (45 minute wait, it was popular!), the skies today were much better, have to agree with you about the views - Canary Wharf was within sneezing distance, even got to see my own estate which is something. Hats off to the guy who had opened his flat up, he still had a smile on his face for the second-to-last group today.

What were the queues like for things overall?

Oh DG, You might be surprised that there are quite a lot of us upwardly mobile types living/have lived in council tower blocks. With London rents being so high sometimes its the only option. This way you get a well located home with fantastic views.
