tainted love - gets me every time. and i'd commented first for a change but my computer swallowed it up, telling me that Q has used up most of this month's bandwith allowance.

poo sticks.

I was under the impression that one in ten referred to the percentage of people who suffer from some form of disability, not the number people who were unemployed.

UB40 - you say "The world still doesn't care enough". The world doesn't care at *all*. Someone, somehwere excludes the socially excluded.

Ah yes, Tainted Love was one of the few 12 inches I bought. Excellent stuff.

As was Prince Charming.

And then there was "Start Me Up".. the last decent Stones Single?

Depeche Mode I never got.

That was back in the days when UB40 were actually good and not putting out awful cover versions between money fights.

And 27 points for mentioning John Foxx, who released a new album last month...

I think I love all these songs (apart from Portsmouth Sinfonia which I have never heard of). I even liked the Cliff Richard one, but then I was only young.

I can do the Prince Charming dance and I wasn't even born in 1981...

I thought 1 in 10 was reference to statistical 'chance' of someone being gay?

Ninth. (Like, it matters?)

Butbutbut worrabaht... the OTHER twelve-inch two-song medley that defined Summer 1981? Did we have it last month? Can't remember.

Has to be Play To Win, followed by Souvenir, and then a dead heat between Slow Hand, You'll Never Know and So This Is Romance.

Joe Dolce...

Wired for Sound? I'm still emotionally scarred by the video for that...

Many years ago I heard Portsmouth Sinfonia on the radio, laughed so much I bought the LP. First job in the morning will be up in the loft looking for it.

"Ridicule is nothing to be scared of" was for a long long time mis-sung as "Pretty jewellery's nothing to be scared of" - not that far off the mark really.

Prince Charming, Souvenir and Tainted Love.

I'm eagerly awaiting Labelled With Love, and What a Good Year for the Roses. amongst many other true classics of the best year, ever...

UB40. Amazing when you think how little progress the human race has made (except statistically), in these 25 years.
