Third World's dancing on the floor for sure. It still sounds good today.

Went to a party
I danced all night
I drank 16 beers
And I started up a fight

But now I am jaded
You're out of luck
I'm rolling down the stairs
Too drunk to fuck

The sage words of Jello Biafra.

Hmm... such a shame after last month's chart. Really hard to pick anything here

Funeral Pyre I suppose.

funeral pyre and spellbound for me. i started work down tut pit in 1981. last 'o' level on thursday and first night shift two days later. what a grafter.

Then and now, it has to be Odyssey. Absolutely bloody marvellous!

"Will You" was another big favourite, with its uncomfortably accurate lyrics: just perfect for a shy single boy in the university halls of residence.

Guilty pleasure (then and now): "If Leaving Me Is Easy" - Phil Collins. There was also a nice "lovers rock" reggae version by Lloyd Chalmers.

There was probably loads of good indie stuff, but my memory fails me.

(You're saving Kirsty unti next month, right?)
dg writes: yup, Kirsty peaked in July

Hazel O'Connor is probably my favourite, with an honourable mention to Odyssey. It is poor picking, as I can honestly say I don't really like any of the others, and in some cases have never heard of them.

Depeche Mode certainly have involved over the last 25 years. One of their latest exploits was translating their song "Suffer Well" into "Simlish" for the latest Sims 2 Expansion Pack - Open for Business.

I'm a Sims 2 Whore, and will admit to rather liking the song.

first question: is roller skating a substitute for surfboarding amongst hardcores?

Thanks for mentioning The Evasions "Wikka Wrap"! I heard the song maybe one time and I have been trying to find out who did the song for over 10 years!!! It's one of those songs that you never forget! The puzzle is solved!! I heard someone at work playing Coolio's "1234 Sumpin New" and I finally put two and two together to realize that Coolio was sampling my mystery song!! So I searched online and this is the first site I found that mentions the sample and a link to the song too! Eureka! I've found it!!! No wonder the song was so hard to find....it's a UK song...I'm in the US :o* God save the queen!
