With you 100\\%. The only safe way to get a brown skin is through inheritance.

nooo! cloudy summer? nooo!
I like sunny summers and getting a bit of tan. Not until the orange/red extremes, but just the tan after enjoying a nice day out. That's cool!
But I would never go to a sunbed or something like that.
By the way very funny gradation of colours for this post

"Sure a suntan can be..."

I note you picked up the accent during your brief sojourn in the land of the holy dollar

I don't do tans either. But then, I burn with a very liberal layer of Factor 60 on.

I recently saw the sun damage on my Fiancé's face, while at a show in London (of all places). The Blue Man Group heavily use UV lighting during their show, and it was amazing what I could see on someone who hardly ever goes out in the sun.

I wish people would stop asking me whether I'm having a fake tan for my winter wedding. No, in fact, I like being the same colour as my wedding dress, I don't feel the need to look like I put my finger in a socket and fried.

I so agree.

I'm naturally pale, and that's fine by me. People are alread surprised that I'm the age that I am, as they expect me to be at least 10 years younger. If this happens in 30ys how much more of an effect would it have later on?

So for me, nice warm sun. no clouds, topless motoring, factor 60 and a hat.

Skin cancer has a funny side. My dads ears have shrunk to about half their size over the past year due to the many operations he has had on them.

Well, I laugh at him anyway.

I'll dare to disagree here...

I don't have pale skin.
I tan easily and rarely burn.
Being out in the sun makes me happy (I have mild SAD during dark months).
I have never used fake tan.
I don't use sunbeds.
But I do rush outside when it's sunny to lap up the rays - and I also use sunblock.

Bring on summer, I say. Let those blue skies commence!

That reminds me, I'm off to the surgeon next week to get some more carcinomas cut out. The product of a Pommie pallor exposed to 50 years of Aussie sun! Enjoy your missives.

You are not usually so zealous. What happened in the land of the free? Picked up a new US habit?

I like the sunshine, leave it alone!

I do slather SPF 25 on liberally though, and must admit to recently buying that new body lotion with a hint of tan in it to reduce my green/blue winter pallor, without cancerous consequences.

I love going to hot climates, but I stay out of the sun most of the time mainly because I hate getting all hot and sweaty and greasy (from creams). Despite this I usually get a mild tan, more a hint than a definite brown colour, and I’m quite happy with this. A couple of years ago I discovered www.p20.co.uk and it’s excellent for protection whilst out and about but without the mess of cremes.

Yup, I'm for a cloudy summer...melanoma is very deffinately not an attractive colour!

i love cloudy summer days.

My skin gets various flaky problems if it doesnt get any sun so I have to use the sunbed a bit during the winter, but not enough to chagne colour, just to take the blue off and pep it up.

well you know them Americans- they'd rather put themselves at the brink of self-destruction in order to look good. Silicone breasts and lips, tanning salons, fake nails...Catch my drift?

I was so looking forward to perhaps meeting you when you were in San Francisco. Noelbear told me you were in town and he was excited at the prospect of introducing us. Said it would be fun.

Maybe next time, I hope.
