But last night Terry and Julie would have freezed their bollocks off on the bridge. I cetrainly did. |
Sniff. Sigh. Etc. God, I LOVE that song. |
What Vaughan says. A song so unforgiveably perfect that I find myself unconsciously singing it every time I cross Waterloo Bridge. |
It should be the National Anthem of the People's Republic of London. |
Aaah. |
I think some would make the argument that the song was originally written about Liverpool, not London. Still lovely though. |
Quin, you're right, the song was originally called "Liverpool Sunset". But it's still become the quintessential London song, even though there is a district in Liverpool called Waterloo. But wherever it's placed it's, as you say, lovely all the same. Funnily enough, I lived on Penny Lane in Liverpool for two years, and, unlike "Waterloo/ Liverpool Sunset", the Beatles' song leaves me quite cold. |
Terry Stamp and Julie Christie, yeah? Kinks - King of Britpop. DG - King of Bloggers. We salute you, Rimmer stylee. |
I thought it was "Terry and June" for years; but I am a bit deff |
Ahh! 1977, and 22 years old, meeting my American girlfriend at Waterloo Station... walking over Hungerford Bridge at sunset... Lordy, nostalgia ain't what it used to be. |
