Gosh, it wasn't a very good week was it?

I think the only one I bought as a single was "Stop the Cavalry"

i thought it was an excellent week .. for me Jona Lewie, John Lennon and Spandau were the best!

Apart from the Number 2 (apt really) it really is a reminder of a time when music really ruled the waves. Every other tune just took me back to some very nice places. Jonah Lewie was a king in my view.Top post DG! GJ

I also bought Jona Lewie, though I liked Queen's Flash too.

Now, that's a *proper* Top Ten.

My personal top 5 at the time would have been:
1. Antmusic
2. To Cut A Long Story Short
3. Too Nice To Talk To
4. Looking For Clues
5. Stop The Cavalry

My wife's cousins were in St. Winifrid's school choir.

"And one day when we're older, we'll look back and say, there's no one quite like Harold S., He helped them on their way"

A pretty good week I'd say. One Q for DG though: are you CERTAIN that "Super Trouper" is the only ever no 1 about Glasgow? (For sure it is the only one to rhyme "Glasgow" with "last show" - I saw bjorn again last night btw!)..

Of all the british cities the fair one on the clyde seems to have inspired more songs than most - and understandably so - as there is something wildly romantic and emotive about the place - even if they haven't necessarily caught on south of the border or topped the charts. but one might...

You might be right as all I can think of right off the top of my head are "Jocelyn Square" by Love and Money (which wasn't a hit at all down here) and "Your Swaying Arms" by Deacon Blue...

Of these my faves at the time were the singles by Abba, Eddy Grant, Neil Diamond, and Robert Palmer. I am twice the age now than I was then, and more or less still agree with these choices!

Isn't it funny how I can remember nearly all of those songs from 25 years ago, but none of the last week's top 10? Would help if had any interest in last week's top 10 mind.

Think I actually owned Spandau Ballet, Madness, Jona Lewie, Adam and the Ants, The Beat, Kool & the Gang & The Specials' single. I would have bought Neil Diamond as well if it had been acceptable for a 14 year old.

Don't know where I would have got the money from? School must have paid well in those days!

Some of St Winnies would progress to my secondary school where they would spend seven years of hell having the piss well and truly taken out of them.

Not a very good week, NiC? Au contraire! As ChicagoAddick points out, I reckon most Brits would still be able to sing eight out of that top ten, 25 years on - the Cats and the Rats being the possible exceptions.

I think you can tell I was keen on the music of the time if I tell you that my 7" box contains those listed by Jona Lewie, Abba, Madness, Spandau Ballet, Adam & The Ants, Eddy Grant, The Beat, The Specials and Bad Manners.

Gert, do you think Shelley from Corrie still carries the scars?

"Bob Geldof."

I read that far and lost the will to live.

Is this malaise treatable? Or perfectly normal?

Oh. How did I post that anti-Geldof thing and yet remain anonymous?

I didn't intend to, honest.

I will hold my anti-Geldof stick up against any man!
