They were not 'barges' that you saw, they were 'narrowboats'. Owners of narrowboats are quite picky on what they are called. Are you trying to upset people...

Sorry Geezer but I have to disagree with you on that one. I lived in docklands for five years before moving out here and I watched the so called regeneration project that happened around the dome in 'north greenwich'. The place is still a no man's land. While the stadia are being built the council estates behind them, out of the sight of the media, will still be left to decay.

The 'Critical Mass' ride in protest against the Bid annoys me. CM is all about cycling and related issues. Unless those that turn up have some two wheeled message related to the building of a Velodrome, calling it a 'mass' is greatly misrepresenting the views of the usual Friday night ride.

At least it's not an 'official' Critical Mass. More misrepresented opinions here.

Aah, you got the rainbow. It was enormous! Think of the size of the crock of gold at the end of it.

I think that we should be proud to be wanting to host the olympics here. (It puzzles me as to why we have to paint buses and trains with a plea to us to "back the bid"). I have noticed (in many other ways also) that we Brits have lost the automatic feeling of pride for things like this - and that we constantly have to be "selling" good things to ourselves before selling our strengths and our talents to the rest of the world. Very puzzling. Perhaps I am reading too much into the protesting ...

But what about those poor old boys in Waltham Forest who will lose their allotments?

Also, whilst North Greenwich might be a wasteland at the moment, it won't be in a few years' time. If you really are interested in what is going to happen there, there is a site office at the Dome itself that anyone can look at and all the plans and gubbins are available from the local authority.

Dome = big fat white elephant (although still a stunning building in my opinion). But I can't see why anyone would object to cleaning the peninsula up after half a century of more of British Gas messing it up with chemicals and nastiness.
