Having been a patient at Great Ormond Street for five years, I was quite impressed to find that the royalties from whenever a play of Peter Pan was put on, go to Great Ormond Street.

The big wall painting they have in the Café at GOSH of Peter Pan is quite impressive too.

The statue is great. Fave trick to keep children walking is to send them ahead to count how many rabbits and mice there are. Cuts down on the "my feet are tired" type of whining.

Didn't the real-life Christopher Robin have a bit of a shitty innings as well?

The real life Christopher Robin ended up a book-seller, which seems to be asking for people to make with the funny...

The background of Peter Pan is mangled quite heavily in the film 'Finding Neverland' (the boys father is already dead, Slyia dies after the premiere etc) but it also has Johnny Depp perfectly cast as Barrie.

After George's death, Barrie removed the line "to die will be an awfully big adventure" from the play.

What a great post DG. I played football in Kensington Gardens twice a week for about 5 years in the '90s (using the No Ball Games sign as a goalpost) and never knew the Barrie connection. The day before I left England they took the scaffolding down from the Albert Monument, and I finally got to see it after spending 10 years around the corner....

A minor typo, Mr Geezer - JMB was born in Kirriemuir, not Killiemuir.
