Hmmm, I too like the idea of these super sportsmen having to take the tube but less face it, it's not going to happen.
Apart from anything else, I think recent history has tarred us Brits as the Millwall of the international community anyway..."No-one likes us but we don't care"

I must confess to liking your argument that the ancient Victorian tube lines and decaying tube infrastructure (and oh, but isn't the District Line a perfect example) are merely an indication that we got there first. Of course, there's the slight contrary argument that once we'd got there first, maybe we should have spent a bit more money ensuring that we remained first (or even 10th).

Anyway, the price of our public transport probably means that some of the tennis players from poorer nations won't be able to afford a return from east London to Wimbledon on the tube.
