Brown trainers are fasionable? *I'm* fasionable??! How can this be? It's never happened to me before. Damn Airwalk and their oh-so-comfy soles.

So, when Best Mate finally turned up, he had a large black wheelie suitcase in tow. I tried very, very hard to say nothing...

Glad the Best Mate (tm) made it in OK. But what was with the case? Perhaps it was empty? Was there a stowaway inside? Did he bring more Oreos? A pony?

Please do make sure that he stocks up on all of the things he misses when here in the Western Urban Pastures.

It's unclear what heinous transformation happens to tea as it comes over here, but whatever it is makes it largely unpalatable to BM(r).

Please take BM(r) out and make sure that he gets suitably trashed beyond memory at least once. Oh, and if you were to have a digicam to remind him of said experience, well that wouldn't be so bad either.

Rickster...
...my wheelie suitcase rant is here
...and my American tea rant is here

The wheeled suitcases are popular here in San Francisco as well, though I've always assumed that the drivers of said cases have just arrived and are rushing home so as not to be spotted in public looking transient. But then again, who knows.

As for the tea thing... I grew up in the southern part of the country, Texas to be exact. It gets so hot there that iced tea is a given with every meal and comes in huge glasses - the only question from the wait staff is "sweetened or regular?" It's an extremely regional thing.

When I grew up somewhat, I moved up north and east to Washington DC, which is north of the famed Mason-Dixson line, and thus technically "Yankee" territory. I tried ordering iced tea one cold day and was told that it was bad for my health to drink iced tea in the winter. When I insisted, what I finally got was a cup of hot tea and a glass of ice.

El bizarro? You betcha.

PS If you get a chance.... pls pass on regards to BM(tm).

Yeah - totally agree about cyclists on the red light point. It depresses me (as a cyclist myself) how arrogant many of us can be when it comes to basic road etiquette. No wonder we are loathed by drivers. We only have ourselves to blame!!

Surely BM(r) didn't read your wheelie suitcase rant. and turn it into an opportunity to make you accompany one through the busy lunchtime streets of London? That would be cruel indeed!
